Random Musings

College Football season is over. I can't believe Auburn fans didn't deck themselves out in full on camo for the National Championship game against Oregon. You should never waste a perfectly good opportunity such as this to wear camo and affirm to others that you're going duck hunting. Once in a lifetime chance....Great opportunity cometh, great opportunity passes.

The Charlotte NAACP has expressed their anger with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board for sending kids to school for a recent snow make-up day on Martin Luther King Day. They're now calling for a CIAA, NCAA, PGA, NBA, etc. boycott of Charlotte. It's a shame that this group has turned into a disgrace of what was once a proud and relevant organization. It's evident to me that the NAACP sees that it is no longer relevant and now has to resort to shock-factor tactics to gain support. The NAACP pledges to "expose Charlotte for the racist bastion it is." If we're a city full of racist bastions then a lot of citizens are going to be awfully surprised when they find out that Mayor Anthony Foxx is black.

I hate this time of year. It's dark when I leave for work and it's dark before I leave the office. I feel bad for my dog. She's got to be bored. There's not enough light in the day to put in a full 8-9 hours of work and come home and get her out to run around. I need to make a commitment to make sure she gets the most out of the long days of summer this year. I also need to get serious about spending more time out in the woods. City life will wear you down and I've found the best way to refuel, re-energize and rediscover what's really important in life is to get away from it all and surround yourself with grass fields, tall timbers and peace.

Ressurrection

Ressurrection is the shadow walking down the neighborhood street amongst the falling mist, in and out of the shadows, showing under the passing street lights, hood pulled up, with dog in tow, or vice-versa.

Ressurrection is being what you want to be, what you used to be, or remembering who you are and where you've been.

Ressurrection is remembering what you're capable of and being given a second chance to prove you still know how to get it done.

Ressurrection is what you get after two years of dissatisfaction with promises undelivered and mismanagement of this great nation.

Ressurrection is living in a two year freefall and coming out on the other end, better, stronger, smarter, and wiser.

Ressurrection is waking up to find a new day, better than the last, with another chance to do and be all the things you weren't able to be the day before.

Ressurrection is where we are and what we need.

Ressurrection is faith in knowing He will rise again.

Ressurrection is proving your doubters wrong and showing'em what you're really made of.

Ressurrection is finally not being too busy to put it on paper after almost two years of nothing.

Ressurrection. Picking up where you left off.

Ressurrection is being fed up with how it is and doing something about it.

So this is it. This is the restart of one man's outlet, one man's thoughts. Nobody may ever read these thoughts. Nobody may ever care. But a thinker doesn't think for others, a thinker thinks because he is a thinker.

Ressurrection is the return of the spirit of Silence Dogood.
