College Football season is over. I can't believe Auburn fans didn't deck themselves out in full on camo for the National Championship game against Oregon. You should never waste a perfectly good opportunity such as this to wear camo and affirm to others that you're going duck hunting. Once in a lifetime chance....Great opportunity cometh, great opportunity passes.
The Charlotte NAACP has expressed their anger with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board for sending kids to school for a recent snow make-up day on Martin Luther King Day. They're now calling for a CIAA, NCAA, PGA, NBA, etc. boycott of Charlotte. It's a shame that this group has turned into a disgrace of what was once a proud and relevant organization. It's evident to me that the NAACP sees that it is no longer relevant and now has to resort to shock-factor tactics to gain support. The NAACP pledges to "expose Charlotte for the racist bastion it is." If we're a city full of racist bastions then a lot of citizens are going to be awfully surprised when they find out that Mayor Anthony Foxx is black.
I hate this time of year. It's dark when I leave for work and it's dark before I leave the office. I feel bad for my dog. She's got to be bored. There's not enough light in the day to put in a full 8-9 hours of work and come home and get her out to run around. I need to make a commitment to make sure she gets the most out of the long days of summer this year. I also need to get serious about spending more time out in the woods. City life will wear you down and I've found the best way to refuel, re-energize and rediscover what's really important in life is to get away from it all and surround yourself with grass fields, tall timbers and peace.
